When we were angels
We sat and watched the world burn from the comfort of our cotton candy clouds
Oh, how the chaos looked so small
From our thrones so proud

When we were demons
We took what we wanted and never left a drop of power for anyone else
But it was okay.
We reminded each other humans could take care of themselves

When we were fallen
We understood that humans weren't perfect, that they had it bad, but they still loved each other
With the little time they had

When we were mortals
Life was smaller and yet
The simplest moments became more grand, standing for what we believed in,
Holding a newborn's hand

When we were angels
We were made of stardust and feathers,
Everything had a place, had a meaning, and there was nothing left to discover

But when we were human
we cried over simple things,
we loved each other like any second we'd fade away
And wondered if the clouds were really made of cotton candy...

And now I wish we could fall again
