"The Day After Tomorrow" by Angela Sifuentes

tomorrow
maybe that’s when i’ll see you
i’ll see your wondrous eyes
i’ll see your golden smile

but at this time it feels like
i’m stuck in a day with no end
every day i remind myself
that i’m one day closer to seeing you

it’s what i’ve told myself yesterday
and it’s what i told myself today

yet today has exasperated my emotions
into a continuous stream of indestructible ice
flowing in lava

it’s stripped my feet and forced me to walk on fire

but i always try to have hope
for what will come at the end of this
one month
twenty-nine days
five hours
for the truth to be revealed

and then
will i be adorned by your wondrous eyes
and your golden smile

you will bring the life to me
and my heart will be whole

and then
will i be decorated by your love
as you shower me in what you carry

however, until then
will i be waiting
and waiting
for tomorrow to come
and the days to go by

i’ll wake up in a series of neverending tomorrows
to find the hope of what comes after

but as i find myself in this day
I’ll want nothing more
but to see you again
the day after tomorrow
